PP versus SS in Rhinestones sizing

PP versus SS in Rhinestones Sizing
What does PP and SS mean in rhinestones sizing? This is a very frequently asked question in our rhinestones store.

PP and SS are used by Swarovski Elements as their measuring unit of their crystal products.

PP stands for Pearl Plate, while SS stands for Stone Size.

Originally, PP (Pearl Plate) is used to measure the size of pearls, it works by placing the pearls on a surface or plate with holes on it, then the pearls were sized by the wholes which they fell through.
PP is now usually used for smaller chatons (from PP1 - PP33).

SS (Stone Size) is the most common way for rhinestones sizing, and is very commonly used for flat back rhinstones. Crystal rhinestones manufactured all over the world used SS as their sizing unit. Although, some packing still have both a PP and SS size on the package label.

Where to buy rhinestones in australia

Where to buy rhinestones in Australia?
My friend who is living in Sydney asked where she can buy rhinestones that is good in quality and yet inexpensive. She said the closest place where she can find rhinestones in Sydney is Spotlight, but they are quite expensive.
If you're living in Australia, you may want to try ordering online from us, at www.qrhinestones.com!

Although we are not inside Australia, we are well stocked and can ship out your order on the same day/ or next day after you have placed your order with us.

Orders shipping to Australia normally it takes 6 days to arrive, our price is reasonable with very good quality of crystal rhinestones guaranteed! All of our rhinestones are lead crystal made, we DO NOT SELL rhinestones that is made of plastic.

Prices is AU$ 8.9 for 10 gross (1440 pieces) on size ss6-ss12.
Around 1/3 the price of Swarovski crystals.

Please visit our store to see the quality!

Please don't mix up Non-Hotfix and Hotfix Rhinestones :-)

Very often, customers in my store have mixed non-hotfix and hotfix rhinestones in their order. It looks strange for me to see a customer ordering both hotfix and non-hotfix in their order, so in such case, I will usually confirm with them before I ship them out.

And, surprisingly, nearly 90% of them really did make the mistakes to choose hotfix rhinestones while they were actually needing non-hotfix ones.

So, please make sure you are choosing the correct type of rhinestones in your order. :-)

Do I need Hotfix or Non-Hotfix?
IF you WANT TO IRON the rhinestones ON CLOTH, then choose HOTFIX Rhinestones.
Otherwise, choose the Non-hotfix ones.

I hope this helps.

Have a nice day!

How Pointed Back Rhinestones can be used?

Have you ever wondered how pointed back crystals can be used at home?
Normally, pointed back rhinestones will have to be used with a metal setting, and this is not easy for many of us, because most of those metal setting is moulded in the Factory and comes as an end product to us. We do not have have freedom to design the mould ourselves.

In this project, I'm introducing the DeCoRe Crystal Clay, with this crystal clay, it provides a clay platform for pointed back rhinestones to set in.

DeCoRe Crystal Clay are 2 parts epoxy clay that can set in 60 mins, and attain full hardness after 24-36  hours.

For the Round Pendant in the Image, I have used 1g of Part A and 1g of Part B crystal clay and knead it until it completely mixed. Then, we add pointed back rhinestones onto the clay with a rhinestone picking pen

Making of these crystal clay rings are easy and fun. You may want to try it at home this weekend. :-)
